I am a licensed psychologist in private practice in the Mid City area of New Orleans. I received my doctoral degree in 1993 from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. I have been licensed to practice independently since 1996. I completed my doctoral internship at the LSU Medical Center’s school psychology internship consortium in New Orleans and was employed by the Jefferson Parish School Board for five years before opening my private practice full time in 1997.
While my graduate training was in school psychology, I work with adults as well on a short-term basis. In my private practice I have contracted with a multitude of organizations throughout my practice (e.g., New Orleans Musician's Clinic, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, DCFS, Social Security Administration, contract work doing veterans disability evaluations, Office of Juvenile Justice conducting juvenile court psychological evaluations, MHSD providing interventions for individuals with disabilities, and conducting evaluations for various school systems and private schools.
I am a former president of the Crescent City Area Psychologists Society. I currently serve on the executive council of the Louisiana Psychological Association as secretary and formerly as a director. I chair the LPA Convention and Continuing Education Committee and am a committee member for LPA's Membership Committee and Communications Committee. As I move further into my professional journey I have sought research-based methods that can provide true healing at a foundational level. This search has taken me into seeking out and training in relatively non-traditional metods. I've been using Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT – aka “tapping”) since 2008, have been a holotropic breathwork assistant since 2012, and more recently became certified as a psychedelic-assisted therapist in 2023. It's very exciting for me to see individuals liberated from their burdens when they have to courage to go outside of their comfort level and try these alternatives that are now becoming more mainstream.
