I am a licensed psychologist in private practice in the Mid City area of New Orleans. I received my doctoral degree in 1993 from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. I have been licensed to practice independently since 1996. I completed my doctoral internship at the LSU Medical Center’s school psychology internship consortium in New Orleans and was employed by the Jefferson Parish School Board for five years before opening my private practice in 1997.
While my specialization is in school psychology, I work with adults as well on a short-term basis. In my private practice I have contracted with a multitude of organizations (e.g., New Orleans Musician's Clinic, providing EFT to our city's culture bearers, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, DCFS, Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration conducting disability evaluations, Office of Juvenile Justice conducting juvenile psychological evaluations, Metropolitan Human Services District providing in-home interventions for individuals with disabilities, school systems and private schools conducting evaluations.
I am former president for the Crescent City Area Psychologists Society and have served on the executive council for the Louisiana Psychological Association as secretary and director and have chaired or co-chaired various committees - ethics, membership, and continuing education. While quite active in my profession my professional interests tend to not be traditional or even common. As I move further into my professional journey I have sought research-based methods that can provide true healing at a foundational level, which is the reason I sought this profession in the first place. This search for quality methods that work has taken me off the beaten path and into territories much less traditional than talk therapy. I've been using Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT – aka “tapping”) since 2008, have been a holotropic breathwork assistant since 2012, and more recently became certified as a psychedelic-assisted therapist in 2023. It's immensely enjoyable and exciting to see individuals liberated from their burdens when they have to courage to go outside of their comfort level and try something different and unique in the field of mental health.
